Why Volunteer?
The Coast Guard Academy needs you to help us find the next generation of men and women of character to lead the Coast Guard. The United States Coast Guard defends America, saves lives and property, enforces maritime law, protects the environment and safeguards our economic prosperity. By volunteering with the Coast Guard Academy admissions team, you help us to identify and recruit future commissioned officers that are well educated and prepared to lead.
The Coast Guard Academy is the smallest of all the national service academies. Being the smallest means we need to work that much harder to improve public awareness about the Academy. Your volunteer work helps to identify young people who are academically able, are willing to embrace physical and mental challenges, and will hold true to the core values of the Coast Guard.
Your rewards for volunteering include:
- Pride you will feel for increasing awareness of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and strengthening its reputation as one of America’s finest engineering colleges
- Knowledge that you are identifying men and women of character to lead our nation
- Fulfillment you will experience when you play an important part in bringing a young person to the decision to accept an appointment
- The opportunity to reconnect with old friends, coaches, teachers and classmates
- Satisfaction that you are contributing your time to benefit the extended Coast Guard family
