CGA Ranks Among the Top Colleges in the Country 8/27/2009 The U.S. Coast Guard Academy has been ranked 2nd in the category of Best Baccalaureate Colleges in the North and 15th Best Undergraduate Engineering Program in the Country in the 2010 edition of America’s Best Colleges by U.S. New Media Group. “We are honored to be ranked as the number two Best Baccalaureate College in the North for the third consecutive year and have improved our ranking from 21st to 15th in the Best Undergraduate Engineering Program category as compared to last year,” said Rear Adm. J. Scott Burhoe, superintendent of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. “The consistent recognition on the America’s Best Colleges list is a testament to the dedication of our faculty and staff who educate, develop, train and inspire the next generation of Coast Guard officers. It is also a positive reflection on the quality and character of our students.” The 2010 America’s Best Colleges rankings examines how more than 1,400 accredited four-year schools nationwide compare on a set of 15 indicators of excellence. Among the many factors weighed in determining the rankings, the key measures of quality are: peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving and graduation rate performance (National Universities and Liberal Art Colleges). |
